Paper Covered Headboard

Having never found a headboard that I liked I wanted, originally, something upholstered. But that’s a REAL commitment to a pattern or color and I like changing stuff up. I made this headboard from 2 X 4 and a piece of 3/4 inch particle board. I was originally going to then make an upholstered COVER for it that I could take off and launder whenever the dogs slobbered on it or muddied it up. So I end up with this very flat, flush headboard. THEN I look at the back and it has this very pleasing framed-in look.

Now I want a special affect. I had just been doing paper bag decoupage on walls and decided to try a weave pattern on the wood. Folding and tearing the paper gives a smoother effect. It worked but next time I use this effect on furniture I’m going to paint and then crumple the brown butcher paper first to get more of a crackle finish. I polyurethaned and antiqued to finish.

  2. With havin so much content and articles do you ever run into any problems of plagorism or copyright violation? My website has a lot of exclusive content I’ve either written myself or outsourced but it appears a lot of it is popping it up all over the web without my agreement. Do you know any ways to help stop content from being ripped off? I’d definitely appreciate it.

    1. None that I’ve noticed but it could end up in other sites and I’d never know. Of course the decent thing to do, if one were so inclined to use my content (including photos) elsewhere, is to note where the original info came from. I do this on my site and it doesn’t hurt a bit. 🙂 I have no copyrighted material – mostly because I want people to take my ideas and run with them. That being said, I have seen a LOT of material I’ve read in books on web sites in which the website owner claims it is THEIR material and cannot be used, referenced, etc, unless they should be sued. Now THAT’S ballsy! At this point you cannot prevent your material from being used but you can prosecute if your find your material posted illegally.
Best of luck in your blogging endeavors.
