Dog Gate

The dog gate was an invention of necessity. We have this corner in the basement by the back door that we want to use for the dogs at night but we don’t want to attach anything to the walls. Fortunately for us we have small dogs so this solution worked really well. [/wpcol_1half][wpcol_1half_end id=”” class=”” style=””] IMG_6707 [/wpcol_1half_end]

[wpcol_1half id=”” class=”” style=””]This solution included making two free-standing fence parts. The first is a section of fence with legs that keep it upright and an attached gate with a small caster (wheel) on the end of the gate. The second part is another free-standing section of fence. The whole thing is made with pieces of pine (in our case 2 X 4s ripped down to size) and screwed together. The only hardware is 2 utility hinges, a slide bolt latch, and a caster, all which were available in different types and styles at Lowe’s.
