Playboy Bunny

My husband and I love to screw with the usual male/female roles in our costumes. We are the people that show up at Halloween with me dressed as the priest and he dressed as the nun. If it’s irreverent, we are definitely considering it…

I’ve never considered that making a playboy bunny costume would be terribly difficult. It’s basically a one-piece bathing suit with lots of boning. Well… when you make it for a man it’s a whole different story. You have to have room for the …um… STUFF, you know, DOWN THERE. At the first fitting he appeared to be wearing a diaper. I had left lots of fabric but couldn’t figure out how to cuff the junk so it didn’t look puffy. The end result was hugely successful at the party we attended, partly because when my husband raised his arms, his little boobies popped out.

Both the exterior of the costume and the lining were stretch fabrics. I couldn’t trust my husband could wear the thing for longer than 5 minutes if he couldn’t breathe in it. The pink is stretch challis and the interior is stretch bottomweight poly/cotton. Collar and cuffs are simple dress weight poly/cotton with heavy interfacing sandwiched in so they would hold their shape. The headband is a purchased headband covered in the stretch challis with two ears sewn on. The ears have wired edges (green floral wire) so they can be shaped. All fabric is from my local Joann Fabric and Craft store.  The prize button/ribbon at his hip was purchased at a Michaels Arts and Crafts store. The cool part about it is you can pop the back off and insert a picture, writing, or something printed. I printed out my husband’s name and stuck it in there. The details of this costume are what make it special and this ribbon is just like the ones worn by real playboy bunnies. Also, I got online and ordered playboy bunny cufflinks that are an exact replica of the ones the bunnies wear. I got them at Amazon but they are offered at a lot of online retailers. Make this costume if you want to laugh with your friends all night.
