Front Yard Terracing

[wpcol_1half id=”” class=”” style=””]I have lived in a few houses with sloped yards. Sloped yards offer so many more opportunities for landscaping, one of which is terracing or sets of short retaining walls. Not sure why I came up with this design but I did want something that wrapped around the corner of the house. As you came up the street to this house this corner was the first thing you saw. I was also trying to cover some of the ugly foundation.[/wpcol_1half] [wpcol_1half_end id=”” class=”” style=””]

[/wpcol_1half] [wpcol_1half_end id=”” class=”” style=””]To start I put a stake on the corner of the house and measured out a piece of string 4 feet long. I tied the string to the stake and to a paint can and made a 3/4 circle on ground around the corner. The upper terrace and lower terrace are also 4 foot diameter half circles that overlap the corner terrace right on the ends. [/wpcol_1half_end][wpcol_1half id=”” class=”” style=””]I started at the bottom terrace and dug about 8 inches into the ground at the lowest point and made a level (USE A LEVEL) bed to place the stones. Once this half circle was done I went to the corner terrace and (at lowest point) made another level bed. Here I also attached a  [/wpcol_1half] [wpcol_1half_end id=”” class=”” style=””]
